the level of training and credibility of play therapists by conferring
professional Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and Registered Play

Note: APT offers the designation of Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and
Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) credentials to individuals who
have provided APT with documentation that they have: (a) a traditional mental
health graduate or higher degree by a regionally accredited college or
university; (b) been licensed by one or more applicable licensing authorities
and/or certified by the primary certification authorities; (c) completed a
minimum number of play therapy training and supervision clock hours; and (d)
completed the requisite continuing education hours. The credentials do not
certify, imply or affirm the knowledge or competency of such individual but
only confirms that the education and training requirements identified herein
have been satisfied.
- Approved Continuing Education Provider.
Protects the quality and credibility of play therapy continuing education by
conferring Type I, II, and III approved provider status upon parties offering
approved training.
Note: The Association for Play Therapy, Inc. (APT) offers approved continuing
education provider status to agencies and individuals who have provided APT
with documentation satisfactory to the APT Registration and Continuing
Education Committee that the agency or individual will be providing program(s)
that meet APT's requirements for continuing education of Registered Play
Therapists and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisors. The APT approval status
of any continuing education provider does not certify, imply or affirm the
knowledge of any agency, individual or presenter of a program but only
confirms that APT's continuing education provider requirements have been
satisfied.

Provider Services Organization (HPSO) at competitive rates.
- Distance Learning. Non-contact
approved play therapy training via APT website. Reduced fees for members.
- Research Grants. Promotes original
research to increase play therapy knowledge or improve play therapy practices.
Priority given to projects that demonstrate the effectiveness of play therapy.
- Annual Student Research Award.
Expands the play therapy body of knowledge by stimulating and rewarding
original research to increase play therapy knowledge, improve play therapy
techniques, and demonstrate the value of play and play therapy.
- Advertising. Publicizes play therapy
products, services, and training in our newsletter, membership directory,
conference packets, and website. Reduced rates for members.
- Staff Assistance. Employs a
full-time professional executive director and staff to process member
inquiries and orders on weekdays between 8:00a and 4:00p PST.
- Foundation for Play Therapy.
Advances the psychosocial development and mental health of people,
particularly children, through play therapy research, promotion, and public
service.
- Gold Branch Awards. Annually
acknowledges superior leadership and performance by chartered branches between
April and March. Branch applications required.
- Branch Startup Kit. Explains the
process and includes the forms necessary to organize and charter an APT branch
within a specified territory within or outside of the United States.
- Website. Worldwide 24/7 information,
forms, and services for members, other mental health professionals,
advertisers, trade show exhibitors, and the general public.
- Leadership Academy. Sharpen your

honors the member in good standing who most contributes to the mission - to
promote the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists.
